Intro of Leaf Chain
Introduce of Leaf Chain
Leaf chain, also known as a balance chain, comprises a straightforward steel structure composed of plates and pins. It is specifically designed for load-lifting and balancing applications.
Leaf Chain Type
Leaf chain is categorized into two types:
AL type for light loading and BL type for heavy loading.
AL type is suitable for applications without impact and with daily repetition of 100 times or less.
Selection
1) Consider the following factors based on operating conditions:
• Chain Speed
• Daily repetition of power applications
• Working load (attachment weight, inertia force, and impact force)
2) Identify the type of chain required.
• BL type is recommended.
• Utilize the roller chain if the speed exceeds 30m/min or the number of daily repetitions exceeds 1000.
3) Determine chain size by the following equation.
Working Load × Service factor × Safety Factor ≦ Min. Tensile Strength
NOTE:
• Avoid using a chain with a low safety factor to prevent pin rotation and potential chain failure.
• Ensure regular lubrication to prevent pin rotation, even if the safety factor is deemed satisfactory.
• The safety factor of the chain should adhere to the regulations or guidelines provided in this bulletin, whichever is more stringent.
Attaching of Chains and Clevises
1) When the end is an outer link or connecting link:
Outer link connector and connecting link (standard) should be used.
2) When the end is an inner link:
Inner link connector and connecting pin (with dimension "W") should be used.
