Intro of Spur Gear
Introduce of Spur Gear
Spur gears are the most commonly used gears, with straight teeth, mounted on two or more parallel shafts. The design of spur gear is simple. Spur gears are also referred to as low-speed gears because of the noise at high speeds.
There are three important types of track gears, these are:
External Spur Gear
Internal Spur Gear and
Spur Rack and Pinion.
External Spur Gear
These spur gears have external teeth on the outer surface of the cylinder. When the two gears are engaged, the two gears will rotate in opposite directions. The drive is generally smaller in size and the drive moves in the opposite direction to the drive.
Internal Spur Gear
In an internal spur gear, the teeth are cut on the inner/inner surface. This gear will go into that pinion like a ring, or smaller gears will mesh inside it & both shafts will rotate in the same direction.
Spur Rack and Pinion
It is a special type in which the nodal plane is a plane, meaning that it has an infinite diameter, which is called a rack. It also has identical teeth of the same modulus as the usually smaller pinion.
Spur Rack Advantages
1)Easy to manufacture.
2)No axial thrust.
3)No bearings are required.
4)Simple and compact design, easy to design and install even in limited or confined spaces.
5)Constant speed drive can be achieved, and we can increase or decrease it according to our needs.
6)The crawler gear does not slip during operation and is reliable and durable.
7)With less power loss, we can achieve 90-95% power efficiency.
8)Compared with other gears, the expense is less.
Spur Rack Disadvantages
1)The spur gear is contacted instantaneously in a few seconds, so that the spur gear is subjected to impact stress. Because the load is variable, cyclic stress is generated, and fatigue failure may occur.
2)Very noisy at high speed.
3)They cannot be used to transmit electricity over long distances.
4)They can only have a finite center distance.
5)They can only have a finite center distance.
6)Do not use when changing the axial direction is required.
7)Cannot be used for high loads.
8)Not firm when used at high speed.
